When using the Dymo LabelWriter Twin Turbo it is important to make sure the correct Left or Right printer is selected as well as the correct printing Orientation BEFORE you print.  This of course can be done by opening the Printer Preferences and making sure the settings are correct before every printing operation.  Until Dymo fixes this pain, one work around is to install the LabelWriter Twin Turbo twice. One instance of the LabelWriter can be set to specifically print to the left roll while the second instance of the LabelWriter can be set to specifically print to the right roll.

Windows 2000/XP

Go into the Printers folder.  Based on Operating System and system configuration, the Printers folder can be accessed in one of the following ways:

Start > Settings > Printers

Start > Control Panel > Printers & Other Hardware > View installed printers or fax printers

Start > Control Panel > Printers & Faxes

Right-click on the existing DYMO LabelWriter Twin Turbo and select Properties.  Change the name of the printer to Twin Turbo RIGHT.

Click on the Printing Preferences button at the bottom. Select the required printing Orientation.  Next click on the Paper/Quality tab.  In the Tray Selection drop down menu, select Right Roll as the paper source and click OK. Click on the Ports tab, and make a note of which port the printer is connected to.  Click OK to exit the Printer Properties.

In the Printers folder, click on Add a Printer.  Proceed through the Add Printer Wizard.  You will be adding a local printer, using the same USB port you noted before.  Select DYMO LabelWriter Twin Turbo as the printer to install, answer YES when asked to use the existing driver, and name the printer Twin Turbo LEFT.

After the Twin Turbo LEFT is installed and appears in your printers folder, right-click on it and select Properties.  Click on the Printing Preferences button at the bottom.   Select the required printing Orientation. Next click on the Paper/Quality tab.  In the Tray Selection drop down menu, select Left Roll as the paper source and click OK.  Click OK once more to exit the Printer Properties.

Now when you need to print to the left roll from your software application, select and save Twin Turbo Left when you select a printer.  When you need to print to the right roll from a different software application, select and save Twin Turbo Right when you select a printer.  Each software application should save this information and when run, correctly select the proper printer with the correct preferences.

Initially use the application program to print a test label to ensure you have all the settings correct.  Thereafter, always check the print window to insure the correct printer is selected.

PayPal users always check the Target Printer displayed just above the Sample Label.  If you have selected and saved it when asked, don’t be alarmed it changes and changes back to the correct one.  If is does not change prior to the first Click to Print window.  Click Yes to Print and then click on Select Target Printer and reselect and save the correct printer.  This is just one of the little bugs still in PayPal.
